Mr. Michalis Papapetrou holds a law degree from Athens University, Greece and Diploma in Shipping Law from the University College, University of London, UK and he is a practicing lawyer since 1972 and one of the founders and senior partners of Scordis, Papapetrou and Co LLC (“SP & Co”), a law firm operating from its headquarters in Nicosia, Cyprus with branches in Limassol, Athens, and Moscow. SP & Co is entrusted by a substantial local and international clientele, and provides full range of legal services to various bodies, businesses and individuals worldwide. Mr. Papapetrou has been very active in the political scene in Cyprus since his early career, with the culmination of being appointed as the Government Spokesperson for the presidency of Mr. Glafkos Clerides (1999-2003) during which time he was part of the triparty Negotiating Team and participated in negotiations with late Rauf Denktash under the auspices of the United Nations (Mr. Alvaro De Soto). He has been one of the founding members of the political party United Democrats and served on the National Council as the president of the party from 2005 to 2007. Since 2007, Mr. Papapetrou remains active on the political scene, contributes with articles to newspapers and is often participates on televised discussions on politics.
